I will not define TED all over again as many has already done that. I am more concerned to the E of TED, here it represents “entertainment” and it is one regular feature of TED or TEDx events. Entertainment is not just about fun only; it can be helpful in elaborating tough subjects with ease and less time. The best example can be Junoon and Shehzad Roy trying to redefined Poetry of Iqbal in late 90s.
TEDx is coming to Lahore again; where team of TEDxLahore is busy in designing the third edition of the event and the work is underway TEDxAnarkali is coming to add music to the TEDx legacy of the city. Music is the feature of this event to celebrate the E of TEDx.
However, do not take it just as a concert, as Rohan David (curator of the event) said, “a concert is not that hard to arrange, and never takes so much effort it is certainly something bigger”. TEDxAnarkali is an attempt to revitalize the heritage, art, and culture of the city Lahore in fact Sub-continent, and this is how it is different from the other TEDx events of Pakistan. Event will be featuring talks, and live performances.
All four speakers are there to explain a certain topic on the musical side they come from. Meesha Shafi will be giving a live Musical performance. Abbas Ali Khan will be talking about the fusion of Eastern Music. Maleeha Azeem the worker in gender discrimination will be telling “Tale of Faiz”, and how the poetry of Faiz Ahmad Faiz inspired her life. Sahir Ali Bagga who has an experience of recording with some great voices of Pakistan will be elaborating “The Art of Production”.
