Oxford University Pakistan Society holds talk almost twice a month and this evening they arranged a talk by Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza (Ex Home Minister of Sindh, Pakistan). if you have seen the news than you must know that there was a fuss created during his talk, when he said that he came to UK with some concrete proves against Altaf Hussain. PYLC – Day 2 & 3

February 16th, 2011

This weekend was dedicated to the issues of Pakistan and the debates on them, which took place in Pakistan Youth Leadership Conference at Oxford University. I was there to represent Committee For Interior Affairs. There were many other committees as well, Finance, Foreign, Education, Legal, Environment, Health, and Women Empowerment. Women Empowerment is the new addition to the committee list of PYLC. It was a three-day event and day one I have already covered in my previous blog post.

On the morning of Saturday, Allah Almighty was very kind to us as we were enjoying a very fine weather that was very different from the usual weather of Oxford. Members of all the committees were heading to the respective venues for the discussion on the issues regarding their committees. Committee of Interior Affairs reached Harris lecture hall. That was the place where almost all of us were disconnected from the world outside, as there were no mobile signals, no access to the internet. In such environment, Chair Adnan Rafique and Co-Chair Tuba Omer started the session. Our topics were The Balochistan Issue, Domestic Terrorism, and Ethnic Violence in Karachi. We covered the first two topics on that day in two sessions. During one session, Mr. Imtiaz Gull gave a talk about the Balochistan issue, and in second session, Dr. Haider Ali of ANP joined us. About Dr. Haider I must say that he is among a very few sensible and intellectual politician that I have ever met.

PYLC – Day 1

February 12th, 2011

Oxford Town Hall

Pakistan Youth Leadership Conference (PYLC) is taking place in Oxford University this year, arranged by NUPSA, and hosted by Oxford University Pakistan Society. And I travelled all the way from Newport, South Wales to attend this event. How I reached here is a different story and I might share it on Azlan Ka Blog. Anyhow, on the way I met the delegates who came from Pakistan exclusively for this event.  This bus carrying us reached here in oxford at 1:48 pm. All the delegates have been accommodated in YHA. Therefore, the first checkpoint for us was YHA (Youth Hostel), as soon as I got my room, I made my way to it and got ready for the oxford city tour.

A would be Engineer from Oxford university (I have forgotten the name of his college by now); Ali and Student of Physics Noor were our guides in this small tour of this city. This is not a big city, what I can say – it is a university, which has expended itself to accommodate many things, such as a city centre, some clubs, some shopping areas, and other places and notably the 36 colleges in it. Yes, oxford consists of 36 colleges and every college have their own separate system. The detail of this journey might increase the length of this post that might make it quite uninteresting for many. Therefore, I will be sharing the pictures here and will share my views and experience later (most probably on Azlan Ka Blog).
