It is a Green morning, that is what I was thinking this morning while I was looking out of my window when the colours of spring were all over the trees across the road. They were green and dancing with the air, so I was not alone to enjoy and celebrate Pakistan Day today. Yes, its 23rd March and the biggest feature of the day, for many people, is the quarter final of ICC Cricket World Cup where Pakistan is playing against West Indies, former 2 time world champions and known as black windstorm. It is an important match and all the best wishes for the men in Green. However, there is a significance of this day in our history. 71 years ago, our elders decided what their goal is and how they will gain it, it was given the name Pakistan Resolution out of sarcasm but it was accepted with open arms by the Muslims of this region.
The result of that decision was something that we call Pakistan, the land of pure. Pure just like green … the fresh green. Today after 71 years, we are in the need of a direction as we have become a directionless nation at the moment but I am not hopeless because I am sure we will be on a right track one day and that day is not far away now.
Apart from serious talk, as no one will be interested in it, there are a few things I am looking forward to this day. Cricket match is one of them of course. There used to be a parade on this day in Islamabad where the armed forces used to display the assets we have in all the fields that is related to defence and things like that. I do not know if this ceremony still takes place as for last few years I am missing it. Another thing is Presidential awards, though it sounds hollow because of this government. Last but not the least is the launch of a drink.
Well it sounds strange that how I am connecting it to the day. Well fact remains that I am a marketing student and I can find links. The link is that this drink is green; yes, Olpers Pakistan is launching Olfrute Green Cocktail. Green drink is a nice idea by Olfrute and I hope it clicks as it has a colour that I like the most because it is the colour of Pakistan. By the way, what can be better day to launch Olfrute Green Cocktail other than Pakistan Day?
Anyhow, I am looking forward to this new green coloured drink that was introduced to me by a book that shows faces on the wall. By the time match is going on I am sure that the Olfrute Green Cocktail will be available in the market so I think it is a nice idea to see men in green in action and enjoying the experience with a green drink.
p.s well I do not know how irrelevant and unusual sounds from my end but there is a contest going on at the facebook page of Olfrute Green Cocktail ,where winner will gain IPod. Wish me luck as I have participated in it
