I Have a Dream

I have done Masters in Political Science, export business is my bread and butter. Now I want to be a politician and serve my people. For that, I want to join a certain mainstream political party, a party that is career oriented and open to workers. A party that, with the passage of time and service, gives equal opportunity to workers to reach top post, i.e. Party Chief. I want to be the top man of the biggest political party of Pakistan. While I was planning my journey, the very first question in my mind was, “Is it possible in Pakistan for a person like me to lead a political party?

As I do not belong to any ruling elite family and I do not even have, enough wealth to become blue eyed of any Martial Law Administrator. Keeping this in view, I started analyzing current political parties for my chances where I could serve and be party chief one day. Just to broaden the scope, I kept my political ideology aside for a while.

Primarily the option I had was obvious, Pakistan People’s Party. I annulled this option even more instantly, as I knew that PPP is a horse that only a Bhutto can ride it (and recently Bhutto Zardari). Young Bilawal has already landed to take over and Ms. Asifa is being trained as a backup candidate.

My second option was Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz). Again my bad luck smiled at me with all of her teeth visible because there is no chance to head that party too. Young Hamza Shahbaz and Ms. Marium Nawaz are already standing there to fill the top slots of the party when needed.

For third option I considered Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid e Azam). This party is very weak in current setup but don’t forget PMLQ had ruled our country in past so I gave this option a thought but once again, I felt that young Moonis Elahi has already clinched my chance.

After exhausting all three major options now I put my hand in all medium sized, prospective and regional parties like Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, Mutehda Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Muslim League (Functional), Awami National Party, Jamiat Ulma e Islam (Fazl) and Jamaat-e-Islami. This made me more upset bacause I do not have much space to lead even these smaller/prospective parties. ANP, JUIF and PMLF are always lead by family descendants of Bacha Khan, Mufti Mehmood and Syed Shah Mardan Shah II (Pir Sahab Pagaro).

Now among the remaining three parties, two of them PTI and MQM have lifetime Quaids but with no kids nominated or inducted into their parties. Therefore, the option of leading these parties after their chiefs’ life can be possible. MQM has one window of relief in present day that their party chief Mr. Altaf Hussain has never run for any public office nor will. Therefore, President and Prime Minister would be any of their senior party leader if they gain majority (that appears highly unlikely in present circumstances). Party Chief and Prime Minister candidate in PTI is Mr. Imran Khan and expected to remain same as long as possible. Moreover, second tier leadership of PTI is now in the hands of dynasty loving politicians. Therefore, my chances of becoming party chief there seem to be very much grim.

Now the only party in my list that remains is Jamaat-e-Islami, though smaller one but it is open to all workers and leaders to reach at the top post. Interestingly JI is usually tagged as religious hardliner and tyrant appears to be most democratic for a common political worker. However, for me Jamaat-e-Islami is also not an option because neither I am follower of Molana Modudi nor my religious beliefs harmonize with this party.

So only option available to me is first earn legal or illegal billions of rupees and wait for some martial law to get dictator’s support and form my “own political party” to become party chief. Ironically, I have realised that I cannot be the party leader of any present “Major” political party of Pakistan, no matter how much I work hard, how many years I serve the party or whatever dynamism and qualities I possess. It is only birthright of next generation of our ruling elite to lead their OWNED not-so POLITICAL not-so PARTIES. Wait Wait Wait… One brilliant idea just landed in my mind. Though I cannot fulfil the dream of mine in Pakistan, how would it be to try to become Obama 2 in the land of opportunities?
