Yesterday there have been a big news on TV that put me into the shock first and then made me a little sad too. That was the news of the heart attack that Abida Parveen faced this past weekend. She went through Angioplasty and now she is recovering well. I was sad because there are only few gems we have in Sufi music today, and I do not think we can afford to loose them. She is a real legend as she gave a style of her own to the sufi music and that became her USP.When I think about this legend and her great work, I remember that once I listen to her on PTV. Well being a kid I took it as a strange song and I never liked her by then because of low knowledge.
As I started to understand different things and different languages I also started to understand her music. That might be because of the fact that there was a phase when I was trying to be in touch with sufiism. Today I can recall all her performances, which are rich in sufiism color. Sharing some of them here to pay my tribute to her and I pray for her health and I with that she gets well soon.
