This evening (actually it was night at the place where this incident took place) I news out of jolts came up. Earthquake hit Pakistan, initially it was said to be Karachi and Quetta only but later on, many other places also came up under the list of places that felt the jolts of an earth quack of 7-3 or 7.4 magnitudes. Places like Lahore, Multan, Melsi, Naseerabad, Jafarabad, Khanewal, and many other places. Some of the names I read in the lest were quiet new to me as I never read or heard about them ever before. As per news, India and Dubai ales felt the taste of this disaster. So far, the media have reported no major losses. While reporting this event express tribune says;
The US agency revised an initial estimate that the quake was very shallow ranging at 7.4, and said it probably centred at a depth of 52 miles (83 km), 55 km (34 miles) west of Dalbandin, a town of about 15,000 people.
First reports from the region, close to the frontier with Afghanistan, suggested injuries may have been limited, not least given the sparseness of the population.
The earthquake hit Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta, Jaffarabad, while tremors were felt in Lahore and Sargodha.
Residents in major cities as far apart as the Indian capital New Delhi and the Gulf emirate of Dubai said they felt tremors, as did people in Karachi, although there were no early reports there of damage or injuries.
The Pacific Tsunami Center said the onshore quake had not triggered a tsunami in the Indian Ocean.
A major quake of this magnitude is capable of causing widespread and heavy damage.
The distance of the epicentre to known locations is:
55 km (34 miles) W (271°) from Dalbandin, Pakistan
263 km (164 miles) W (269°) from Kalat, Pakistan
301 km (187 miles) ESE (102°) from Zahedan, Iran
793 km (493 miles) NE (41°) from MUSCAT, OmanOn October 8, 2005, a 7.6 magnitude quake 95 km northeast of Islamabad killed over 70,000 people.
A major quake of this magnitude, if at a shallow depth and close to population centres, is capable of causing widespread and heavy damage and could pose fresh strains on Pakistan following the devastating floods last year which left more than 10 million people homeless.
Whenever the earthquake word come into my mind, I am sure most of the Pakistanis share this feeling with me, the first thing I can remember is the massive shocks and shaken up that was caused by one of the massive earth quack in the world ever. The earth quack of October 2005, the incident that made almost all of the northern Pakistan to be collapsed. The sights of the destroyed areas are still fresh in the memories of ours that whenever we recall it we shiver out of fear and pray to Almighty Allah to save us all from such disasters.
There was panic after the incident that took place today. All of us are disturbed and praying for the mercy because none of us is ready to face and recall the disaster of 2005. We become such emotional and down out of fear at such incidents because we are scared of dying but we do such deeds that somehow makes life of many others either difficult or put it to an end, but we never feel scared after doing such acts. If we are good at heart, feel pain of others, and try not to be harsh to others, this place can be a good and peaceful place that was once known as the world. Feeling scared and being careful at such incidents are natural and praying for mercy is natural because at such moments you are very helpful and call for mercy from the One that has all the power. Think again when you use your powers to harm others without considering the plead and requests for mercy that out target make. Earth quack is not only a disaster it is a lesson too.
