An edited version first Published on Express Tribune

It was September 6 three days ago ─ just another day in London, the country I am currently living in. However, in my home country, this date was marked in red on many calendars. Until around a decade ago, Defence Day used to be a public holiday. However, as the wave of ‘enlightenment’ hit the country and we became workaholics, this date on the calendar was replaced with the usual colour.

Qila Rohtas (Rohtas Fort) Documentry

July 1st, 2012

As per Wikipedia Rohtas Fort is a garrison fort built by the great Afghan king Sher Shah Suri. This fort is the first example of the successful amalgamation of Pashtun and Hindu architecture in the Indian Subcontinent. Sher Shah constructed Qila Rohtas to block Emperor Humayun’s return to India after defeating him in the Battle of Kanauj. The other reason was to suppress the local tribe of this region Potohar called Gakhars. You can find more details about the fort in the documentary video below.

PYLC 2012 Televised Debate. “Is Pakistan Moving in Right Direction”

March 18th, 2012

In my previous blog post I wrote an account about PYLC 2012. On the last day of the event televised debate was conducted by Fahd Husain of ARY news for his show “Pakistan Tonight“. The topic of the show was “Is Pakistan moving in Right Direction or not“. There has been good debate on this topic where experts panel tried to ask some really burning questions asked by the delegates. I also had a question in my mind to ask but never got chance to ask it. However, many of my friends and fellow delegates got chance to ask questions, and you can spot me during the show multiple times (I know it sounds like shameless promotion). have a look at share your view if Pakistan is moving in right direction or not.

Departure of a friend and a legend

November 24th, 2011

Life is indeed unpredictable and complicated than the fiction. Repeatedly this reality bounces to us but this bouncer hits hard when you hear about the death of someone dear to you. Yesterday out of nowhere, the news of Abdul Rauf Khalid’s death came and turned my day into a sad one. My introduction with him took place with his TV drama Laag based on Kashmir. However, all those who grew up in Pakistan during 90s must know the famous TV series Guesthouse; it was also the production of Rauf Khalid’s pen. He was a man of ideas that is why he is a legend to m. In title of this post, I called him friend, and it is exactly how I felt about him after meeting him at Oxford this year for PYLC.

Vote for My Land Pakistan

November 19th, 2011

Finally Wait is over My Land Pakistan has been nominated in Pakistan Blog Awards 2011. Second most voted blog in its category last year has been nominated in the best social activist blog this year. Last year you people showed great support and made MLP the top visited voting profile and second most voted blog in the category. Not winning the award was not a big regret because the love and support you people showed is more important to me than an award. This year looking for the same support in fact I need more because of the business with my thesis I am not been able to take care of this blog and not been able to campaign for the votes as I should. I do not have any greed of an award but still taking part because of representation is must to know how good you are doing and how great others are. Another reason for taking part in these awards is the theme of the awards this year; Pakistan Blog Awards is celebrating the colour of Pakistan by showcasing the best work by Pakistanis contributed in the blogosphere.

Easy and Worthless Victims

January 15th, 2011

Flip the channel and get the news that certain number of people died in an attack, suicidal attack, or any other form of mass killing. It might have become a part of our habit and attitude. Maybe that is the reason that we keep silent on such massively sad incidents. We remain silent because that someone who dies in any barbaric incident is not particularly related to us. Alas, the human life has become worthless to us all. We do not care about it anymore. Be it political game of MQM or the assassination of Governor of Punjab, since a few days there have been so many causalities in our political and social front which caught attention of many.
