Pakistan 2012 Review

February 6th, 2013

The year 2012 was no less tumultuous for Pakistan than any other year. Starting from the Supreme Court and former premier Gilani at loggerheads to the return of Tahirul Qadri’s (untimely) arrival on the political scene, Pakistan has seen a healthy share of ups and downs this year. NATO supply routes were resumed, terrorism continued, Metro Bus project was initiated – it is difficult to remember when one event ended and the other began. For the purpose of simplification and to refresh the previous year, Spearhead Research put together a year in review, a compilation of all important news Pakistan saw. [Source]

Quaid e Azam’s Speech at Edwardes College, Peshawar, November 27, 1945

November 7th, 2012

There is a huge debate going on which is not actually new, Using the name of Mr. Jinnah as a political gimmick is a known trait of our political parties and civil societies’ think tanks. And every time there is only one speech of Mr. Jinnah is brought forward as a proof to declare that Pakistan was meant to be a secular state. The fact remains that 11th august was not the only time in Jinnah’s life when he made a speech there are many other speeches but they are never considered just because they support his incline towards “Two nation theory”. Below I am sharing extracts from Mr Jinnah’s Speech from 1945 that he made at Edwardes College, Peshawar and published in Daily Dawn. This might have a clear message for all those who keep no stone upturned to create an awareness that how there are cultural similarities therefore there was no need of a two nation theory.

A Commodity that sells best

It will be unjust to say that Ramadan is right in corner because the way time flies now Ramadan will be here in no time. No matter to what extent religious you are, but you somehow do face certain effects of the month. Effects of the month also take over our media outlets and our TV screens, the programs we see are specially coated with its colours. Talking about Ramadan, special TV shows has always been flavour of this month. In past these shows were more inclined towards the cooking shows sharing recipes for the ‘iftar’ meals, live telecast of ‘Tarawih’, and TV shows related to social and charity work, quiz shows about Islamic history, and talks from the scholars to elaborate the benefits of this months and other religious issues. However, that was all during “PTV” era with the bombardment of private TV channels a race of rating begun and it taken over Ramadan transmission too.

Media diversion from Spot Fixing in IPL to Shahrukh Khan

May 18th, 2012

Shots went out of the park, wickets flew in the air and entertainment to the fullest, I’m talking about IPL that is Indian Premier League. It started with a bang with its first season when Lalit Modi was in charge. He really did bring a creative idea to the table claiming respect from all over the world. IPL is a franchise which allows cricket players from all over the world to play with their fellow cricketers from different countries combined in a team.  I had followed the first season very closely since it featured our Pakistani players. I had supported Rajasthan Royals from the beginning and they had won.

Just a bit of peaceful

May 8th, 2012

Sheep and goats are grazing as the waterfall looks beautiful in the mountainous areas of Gilgit, Pakistan. We have immeasurable natural beauty in Pakistan, we need to embrace it with open arms. We need to feel the freshness. This view is breathtaking and beautiful. It left me in awe. I have seen a lot of places in Pakistan, but Gilgit is one of those few places I didn’t have a chance to feel and visit.
