Pakistan 2012 Review

February 6th, 2013

The year 2012 was no less tumultuous for Pakistan than any other year. Starting from the Supreme Court and former premier Gilani at loggerheads to the return of Tahirul Qadri’s (untimely) arrival on the political scene, Pakistan has seen a healthy share of ups and downs this year. NATO supply routes were resumed, terrorism continued, Metro Bus project was initiated – it is difficult to remember when one event ended and the other began. For the purpose of simplification and to refresh the previous year, Spearhead Research put together a year in review, a compilation of all important news Pakistan saw. [Source]

Media diversion from Spot Fixing in IPL to Shahrukh Khan

May 18th, 2012

Shots went out of the park, wickets flew in the air and entertainment to the fullest, I’m talking about IPL that is Indian Premier League. It started with a bang with its first season when Lalit Modi was in charge. He really did bring a creative idea to the table claiming respect from all over the world. IPL is a franchise which allows cricket players from all over the world to play with their fellow cricketers from different countries combined in a team.  I had followed the first season very closely since it featured our Pakistani players. I had supported Rajasthan Royals from the beginning and they had won.

Either you are with them or with us

Either you are with them or with us?” this was the question to Decide the fate of Pakistan for coming years. A question that was asked by the superpower and the person to reply was a dictator in search of ways to legitimize his power and recognition. The answer was given, but in reality, the sovereignty was also sacrificed with the answer. He presented freedom cutting own wings and handing over to others. Pakistan had a long history of going under such situations where Pakistan is always left with only one option. Ironically decision makers never hesitated in compromising the sovereignty of Pakistan.

Circumstances remained changing however answers have been same endorsing what U.S. wanted, in both cases whether elected government or dictator holding position. However the unfortunate Pakistan conclusively lost its sovereignty – the power to govern own affairs. Drone attacks are frequent and score is 2377 yet not out in 244 strikes, listen to, and follow “Do mores”, and to follow this new chapter of missing persons in history of Pakistan. Sovereignty is only left in the statement of our beloved president, “Pakistan is a sovereign country”.

Kashmir Solidarity Day

February 5th, 2011

(This post was originaly published at Pakistan Times)

It started with a sad incident in 1994, incident that made atmosphere around me quite gloomy. However incident does not have connection with this article. On February 5, 1994 i assumed; being a five years old brain; that holiday being observed was due to incident that occurred in my personal life but as my father told me that was a national holiday and commemorated as Kashmir Solidarity Day. That was the first time when i came to know about this day and the issue of Kashmir; I might have been observing holidays in previous years too but never noticed. Since then started digging more about Kashmir and had enough knowledge about the motives to celebrate this day.

Sincerity was not there…

September 26th, 2010

Staying quite and ignoring is inhuman, accepting in heart bad as bad is the lowest standard of the faith, and if you are brave enough to raise voice it’s one step higher standard. That’s what I was thinking a few minutes ago when I was thinking about one of the greatest judicial miscarriage of the history I have seen so far. I am talking about the 86 years sentence that has been decided by the American “court of Justice”e for Dr. Aafia Sidiqui. What happened, how it all developed, and the history of this case are the topics that have been talked about and discussed by many.  I don’t think I will create any difference by digging that all up again. » Read more: Sincerity was not there…

Saeeda Warsi the Chairperson of Conservative Party

Saeeda Warsi visited Pakistan, and this has been the big news since July 16 as the chairperson of Conservative party who is Pakistani by origin has visited Pakistan met some top people and visited many places including her hometown. I think it will be better if I say the hometown of her Father. Anyways, this trip was expected ever since she got success in the recent British Elections. She got a Heroine welcome wherever she visited in Pakistan specially at her hometown.

We Pakistani people are very hospitable and we are known for this quality. We forget everything when it comes to treat and greet the guests even at times we forget the rivalries and enmity just to keep the color of this quality alive. Same has been practiced when the daughter of Pakistan who happen to be one of the top personalities of the British politics was here and traveling through different areas of the country.

She deserved it, and I think every guest deserves respect and honor on the other side it becomes our duty to behave well and act sensibly. I have no problem with her visiting here, becoming big news for the media, giving interviews, and featuring morning shows along with other regular political TV shows. Trust me I have no problem with this all, as whatever I do whatever I think I find problem and issues at our end.

It is great to be hospitable, but to me the purity of this attitude can only be attained when it has a flavor of selfless effort. Unfortunately, at few points, this factor was lacking or it is only I who think in this way. I do not know why all the times we attach mountain high hopes with the people and then regret when none of them reaches to the point that is known as accomplishment. Same thing happened this time; the statement of Saeeda Warsi is enough to scream what I am thinking right now. Her statement about the Kashmir Issue and Pakistan’s Issues with India shows that what we were expecting out of this trip. » Read more: From UK with Love

He Is Free, But Is He Safe?

September 1st, 2009

Last week the decision by Lahore high court came out regarding the protocol issue of Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan. Dr Qadeer khan filed the petition in the Lahore high court in which he asked to get rid of this “protocol” which is making him feel like a prisoner, he also quoted the decision of the court, came out in February 2009, in which it was declared that Dr AQ Khan is a free citizen now. But this so called protocol was not allowing him to move freely. And it was more of a detention than a protocol.
The whole story of Mr. Khan is known by us. What ever happened to him was really bad, because for me he is still and will always remain MOHSIN-E-Pakistan. The way he served this nation can not be paid back in any way. But we really ill-treated this greatest hero of ours.
Well coming back to the court decision. The court has declared him free citizen and ordered the “protocol” to get removed and further demanded explanation from the federal government over the issue. For a person like Mr. Khan, who has tolerated so much for last 5-6 years, its great news. He has expressed his feelings to the media after the decision was made.
But the thing which is disturbing me since that day; is that “will it be safe for him to be that free?”. Well I am really in favor of him being free and get the honor what he really deserve, but on the other end, lets face is, he has always been in the hit list of Musad and RAW. No doubt that Mr. AQ Khan is very brave man what he did for the nation again and again need a really and pure courageous heart. I accept that reality but I don’t want to loose another hero like the way we have lost many (examples are there cant put all of them right now).
For last many years he is being demanded by the USA. As USA wants to know the whole story about the Nuclear spread done by Mr. Khan. Well so far it has never been allowed to US (some how we managed it) as the reason as per me must be the fact that if he got interrogated the names of many “PERDA NASHEEN” (Big Names) from the Establishment, Previous govt and the side kicks of Ex President must come out and that was extremely unaffordable to Mr. Mush.
Its not so long that he got free and, as per the best of my information, CIA started following him. And if we later come to know that RAW and MUSAAD is also in this chase it might not be as shocking. In the nut shell his life really at stack. I don’t want him to be poisoned behind human wall or live as a house arrest, what I want is that she must take care of him self because he is free now but is he “safe”? is a million dollar question.

PAKISTAN IS FOREVER:

July 31st, 2009

Yes this is what I believe in, and I was really happy when I saw this line on the front page of the newspaper. At that time I came to know how good it feels when your enemy praises you. These were the words of Mr. Mukherji the finance minister of India.

He said these words when he was clarifying the position of the government, about the declaration of Sharm-ul-Shaikh, to the opposition, and the national assembly. Since Pakistan got victory in Sharma-ul-Sheikh Indian govt is lacking words in her defense, and in this entire situation they said what we wanted to hear that “Pakistan is for ever we can not destroy it”.

Well rest of the speech was the same as most of the time Indian ministers make, same statements and same demands. Well I am in position that I want to write a lot abut it but I do not why I am lacking words. In the mean while I am writing this Supreme Court has made the decision, which was expected by me and my school of thought, that all the decisions of 3rd November were illegal and unconstitutional.

To me it’s a decision against one of the step taken to make Pakistan run according to the will of “ONE” man. It is against the all those factors who might cause the end or a complete disaster for Pakistan. The thing which our enemies can never been able to do and can never do it in future (INSHALLAH). “ONE” among us was running towards it.

Well this decision might not have much value in the eyes of many of us. but it is a step to make sure that “PAKISTAN IS FOR EVER AND NO ONE HARM IT”
