Miles Away From The Tolerance

March 28th, 2013

Nobel Prize NightHe stood first in every exam but failed in one, driving test”, the hall fell into laughter and he continued with saying, “when he came back home he said that now I know how people feel when they  fail, anyhow I am a theoretical physicist not a practical one”. These were the words of Mr. Abdul Rashid, who was sharing some personal memories about his brother and Pakistan’s only Nobel laureate – Dr. Abdus Salam. It was a fine windy Thursday evening and I was standing in a warm room of Imperial College London.

PFLC 2013 – There Is A Long Way To Unity In Diversity

February 27th, 2013

Once again, this year I was in Oxford to take part in the Pakistan Future Leaders’ Conference (PFLC 2013) organized by Oxford University Pakistan Society. It was my third trip to my favorite city in England for the same purpose. Just like past, this year’s trip was full of heated debates, networking with some new and some old people, exchange of ideas, and inhaling the chilled air of oxford that had flying snowflakes in it. The Friday afternoon started with the guided tour of the Oxford city and the tour ended at the Oxford Town Hall where opening ceremony took place. Presence of Malala Yusufzai‘s father was another feature of the ceremony and it was somehow better than the eighteen and a half pages long speech by Mr. Gardezi Deputy High Commissioner.

Social Media Mela to bridge Pakistan – India gaps

July 13th, 2012

One of the biggest features of previous century was the series of World War. A war that has taken countless lives and effected whole globe in every aspect.  The partition of India is said to be one of the effect of second world war. However, where participants of WWII decided to sit together and achieve collective peace and eventually made European Union,  Pakistan and India two newly engraved countries on world map developed a revelry that featured wars, conflicts, and tension.

Past is something that has gone and can not be changed but future can be, somehow this sense has emerged on the both sides of the border and there has been initiatives to take down the tensions, and bridge the gap between the people from both sides who might have different emotions towards the human across the border then what has been projected for so many years.

TEDxAnarkali – Revitalizing the cultural heritage

October 6th, 2011

I will not define TED all over again as many has already done that. I am more concerned to the E of TED, here it represents “entertainment” and it is one regular feature of TED or TEDx events. Entertainment is not just about fun only; it can be helpful in elaborating tough subjects with ease and less time. The best example can be Junoon and Shehzad Roy trying to redefined Poetry of Iqbal in late 90s.

TEDx is coming to Lahore again; where team of TEDxLahore is busy in designing the third edition of the event and the work is underway TEDxAnarkali is coming to add music to the TEDx legacy of the city. Music is the feature of this event to celebrate the E of TEDx.

20 things I am Looking For at TEDxBristol

September 7th, 2011

Normally I avoid writing such posts that mention the certain number of best and worst things. The reason might be the facts that I do not consider anyone not even me to determine some really best or worst things about something that yet has to happen. However, I will justify this post of mine with the human psychology of doing something other than the usual things either because of excitement or because of pride. I have both the reasons for this post so out of the blend created by the excitement and the pride towards TEDxBristol. TEDxBristol is indeed the next big thing happening in Bristol or i batter say West of England tomorrow in Mshed Bristol at 10am. So, here are few things that I am looking forward tomorrow.
